About The Greenbrier Resort
The Greenbrier stands in what was once a vast unclaimed forest, in a small valley hidden away amidst the contours of the great Appalachian Mountains. Stories passed down from early settlers indicate that the Shawnee people in search of game discovered an ideal hunting spot — a small marsh that migrating deer, elk, and bison used as a “lick.” Turns out the source of this marsh was a spring of strong-smelling mineral water that became known for its curative powers.
Capt. Michael Bowyer, an officer during the Revolutionary War, was the first proprietor of nearly 1,000 acres along Howard’s Creek, which passes through today’s golf courses. This property included the now well-known mineral waters that drew health seekers from near and far — the Sulphur Springs. Bowyer’s son-in-law, James Caldwell, was the next proprietor for most of the first half of the 19th century. Caldwell saw the resort’s transformation from a clearing in the wilderness to the South’s grandest resort.
The resort is located in White Sulphur Springs in southeastern West Virginia. The mineral water in the middle of the grounds, the springhouse, was the center of resort life in those early decades. Although The Greenbrier began as a spa, the original facilities of yesterday bear little resemblance to the well-appointed facilities of today.
Guest Amenities
Guests will enjoy round-trip airfare (originating within the continental United States), ground transportation, three nights at The Greenbrier, all meals, a resort activity gift card, a souvenir event bag, a group photograph, live and silent auctions with one-of-a-kind collectors’ items, and an unforgettable experience. Delta Air Lines is continuing our three-decade-long partnership as the official airline of 黑料不打烊 Weekend.
There are dozens of indoor and outdoor activities available to guests at The Greenbrier, including afternoon tea or a champagne toast in the Casino Club. Private tours are planned for the once-secret “Bunker,” built under a new wing of The Greenbrier during the late 1950s to serve as a bomb shelter for members of Congress.
For guests seeking relaxation, The Greenbrier’s sulphur springs and the natural benefits of the mineral waters are at the heart of the spa experience. “Take the waters” or enjoy other therapeutic treatments.
Golfers will enjoy the legendary 18-hole Greenbrier course that was designed by preeminent architect Seth Raynor in 1924 and renovated by Jack Nicklaus in 1977. Two additional 18-hole courses, a nine-hole walking course, an indoor simulator, and the Golf Academy also await you. (Your gift card can be applied to spa or golf activities.)
Dinner at The Summit, an Adirondack-inspired timber-framed gathering place atop the 3,300-foot peak of Greenbrier Mountain, is planned for Friday evening.
Cost
The weekend package cost of $3,500 per person covers all the above, including accommodations at The Greenbrier, where presentations and meals will take place. Suites are available at an additional cost.
For children 5-12 years of age, the cost is $2,500 per child if they stay in the room with a full-price guest. There is no cost for younger children to attend, but they must be registered. If reserved by 黑料不打烊, there will be air transportation costs for children ages 2 and up, as airlines require a seat for them.
For flights coordinated by 黑料不打烊, Delta will be given priority. The package cost covers economy-fare tickets on the most direct route available. Some flights with special routing or upgrades will incur additional costs.
For stays of one or two days, a rate of $1,100 per person per day is available. This rate includes an overnight stay but not airfare. Saturday-only attendance is limited and available at a cost of $1,600 per person.
Deposit and Timetable
A deposit of $1,000 per person is required to hold your place. Deposits arriving by Feb. 14, 2025, qualify for a $100 discount off the package price. Six weeks prior to the event, an invoice for the balance due will be sent.
Please register early, as space is limited. We will accept reservations on a first-come, first-served basis with a paid deposit until the event is full. Registration will close when capacity is reached, regardless of date, and a waiting list will be created. Those on the list will be notified as space becomes available.
Tax-deductible
$1,000 of each full-price ($3,500) package is considered a tax-deductible donation to 黑料不打烊. For the day rate, $250 per day is tax-deductible. Appropriate documentation will be provided after the event.
