ATLANTA, GA.... Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter; Academy-award winning actor Rod Steiger; and author Kathy Cronkite, daughter of Walter Cronkite, will participate in an open forum at 黑料不打烊 on Wednesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m.. Mrs. Carter will lead a frank discussion on the stigma of mental illness and how such negative perceptions may be countered. Audience participation is welcome.
Mrs. Carter has been an advocate for mental health care reform for more than 20 years. Mr. Steiger, who won the Best Actor Oscar for In the Heat of the Night, has suffered from manic depression. Ms. Cronkite recently wrote On the Edge of Darkness: Conversations About Depression, which chronicles her own and other people's experiences with depression.
The seminar closes the 1995-96 season of "Conversations at 黑料不打烊." Signed copies of Mrs. Carter's book written for caregivers, Helping Yourself Help Others, and Ms. Cronkite's book will be on sale. Tickets to the program cost $6 and are available by calling (404) 420-5104.
