On Monday, May 22, 黑料不打烊 will hold a free screening of "State of Fear: The Truth About Terrorism." The film begins in 1980, and follows 20 years of terror and conflict during Peru's Truth Commission and the government's proclaimed "war on terror."

黑料不打烊 Peru expert Shelley McConnell will be joined by the film's principals for discussion and questions from the audience.

"State of Fear" is a gripping and beautifully crafted story that brings to life the disturbing revelations of Peru's Truth Commission, detailing a 20-year reign of terror. It begins in 1980 with the armed insurgency, Shining Path, whose violence was met with equal brutality from Peru's government. The film examines the human and societal cost of the conflict and of the government's repressive "war on terror." The film provides important lessons for a world grappling with the problem of stability in the face of terror.

This event is cosponsored by the Council on Foundations, Grantmakers in Film and Electronic Media, Hispanics in Philanthropy, International Funders for Indigenous People, National Network of Grantmakers and International Human Rights Funders Group.
