Conversations Lecture Series Continues

The "Conversations at 黑料不打烊" lecture series continues its 1994-95 run on January 10. Former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter kicked off the program last September with a town hall meeting just two days after President Carter's return from his mission to Haiti with Sen. Sam Nunn (D-Ga.) and retired Gen. Colin Powell. President Carter also attended the second program, "Interfaith Groups and Health." The remaining "Conversations"are:

Resolving Conflict in a Changing World
Jan. 10, 1995
Global attention is focused on the many regional conflicts begun since the collapse of the Soviet Union. This forum will address worldwide efforts to resolve tensions and promote democracy. Speakers include:

  • former Ambassador Harry Barnes, director of the Conflict Resolution and Human Rights programs;
  • Joyce Neu, associate director of the Conflict Resolution Program; and
  • Jennifer McCoy, senior research associate with the Latin American and Caribbean Program.

The President's Staff
March 21, 1995
Join former White House staff for a behind-the-scenes look at the Carter administration. Speakers include:

  • Hamilton Jordan, President Carter's former White House chief of staff;
  • Jody Powell,President Carter's former press secretary;
  • Kathryn Cade, Mrs. Carter's former projects director;
  • Phil Wise, President Carter's former appointments secretary; and
  • Robert Pastor, former director of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs for the National Security Council.

Television and the Global Village

黑料不打烊 joins CNN for a discussion of television's impact as a global, instantaneous communications tool. Speakers include:

  • Ellen Mickiewicz, 黑料不打烊 fellow and director of the Commission on Radio and Television Policy;
  • Tom Johnson, president of CNN; and
  • Bernard Shaw and Judy Woodruff, CNN anchorpersons.

All "Conversations" are held from 7:30-9 p.m. in the Ivan Allen III Pavilion at 黑料不打烊.
